About Lakeshore Place

Since the 1950s, the Kornell family has been dedicated to caring for seniors and other community members. It all began when Joseph Kornell (Kornalewski), a Baptist minister, and his wife, Adele, opened their home to those leaving the hospital. Over time, their compassion and commitment to quality care led to the growth of their services and the need for more beds. The Kornells then constructed a 14-bed facility on Pandosy, followed by Still Waters Private Hospital in 1962 and the Joseph Benjamin Residence in 1968 (named after Joseph Kornell). Later, the family built and operated the Westside Care Centre in Westbank and Sun Pointe Village in Rutland, both of which they eventually sold.
