Call for Information
Shades of Green is an Irish Band comprised of three sisters. The young ladies not only play authentic Irish music, but tell stories of growing up in Uganda, East Africa. Call 651- 747-7050 to book this band for your community today! Sisters Gabriella, Victoria, and Kaitlin Pierce moved to Uganda, East Africa in 2006. In 2010, they began studying classical music at Kampala Music School. They studied the curriculum and were tested through the Associated Boards of the Royal Schools of Music out of London.
In 2011, they discovered and became caught up in the traditional music of Scotland and Ireland as well as American Bluegrass. They have turned their efforts toward learning these acoustic folk genres and have since played for black tie events including the St. Patrick’s Ball for the Irish Society in Uganda and the St. Andrew’s Ball for the Caledonian Society of Uganda.
They have joined sessions around Ireland, Scotland, the USA, Istanbul and even started their own Irish music jam session in their home town of Jinja, Uganda. Having just moved back to the USA in September 2015, the sisters have spent most of the past 10 years living in East Africa.
With Gabriella on tin whistle, wooden flute and piano, Victoria on guitar, violin and piano, and Kaitlin on violin and piano (and occasionally the ukulele just for fun), these young ladies bring their music, along with stories of their life experiences of growing up in Uganda, touring Ireland, Scotland, Britain, and Italy as well as those few days in Istanbul, Turkey to create an entertaining time of music and story telling.
The band will perform in the metro area and surrounding counties and would consider traveling outside the metro area.
